Origami Jumping Frogs (Grades 3-5)

Make an origami frog that is easy to fold and fun to play with!

What You Need

    • Colored construction paper, cut to the rectangle size of your choosing. The smaller the rectangle, the better the frog will jump.
      • In this example, the paper is cut to 5.7 x 3.5 inches
    • Scissors

What To Do

  1. Fold the rectangle in half, crease firmly, and unfold it.
  2. Bring the top right corner down to the left and unfold it right away.
  3. Bring the top left corner down to the right and unfold it right away.
  4. Flip the paper over.
  5. Bring the top of the rectangle down where the diagonal folds meet, unfold it, and turn the paper over once again.
  6. Bring the sides to the middle so they meet each other. Then, flatten the top of your rectangle to make a triangle.
  7. Fold the two corners of the triangle up to the center.
  8. Fold the right side of the paper towards the center and repeat with the left side.
  9. Unfold the triangles you made at step 7 and unfold them from the top out.
  10. Fold the bottom of the paper up to the top corner of the triangle.
  11. Fold the paper down to the bottom edge.
  12. Flip your frog over! To make your frog jump, lightly press the back and release it!
